Mahitahi Trust is a Kaupapa Māori mental health and addictions provider commited to supporting individuals and whānau on their path to wellbeing through the delivery of integrated, Tikanga-based services. We weave together a kete of culturally grounded supports to help people achieve wellness.

Our mission reflects the core purpose of Mahitahi Trust: to empower people in their journey toward restored wellbeing through a connected range of services—health, social, educational, employment, and housing—guided by ngā Tikanga Māori (Māori cultural beliefs and practices). Community Living Service (CLS)

This service has a strengths-based, recovery orientation. It assists people who would previously have stayed in inpatient services or residential rehabilitation, or who could no longer remain in their accommodation, to develop their own solutions to achieve any of the following: plan for a better future rapidly obtain housing when they have none live in affordable housing and in the community of their choice receive supports that will enable them to live full and active lives within the community enhance their ability to complete activities of daily living that increase wellbeing achieve their goals in terms of work and of friendship and family connections minimise the impact of their mental illness on their lives. Kapuia - Employment Service

Awhi Rito - Youth Reconnection Programme

Awhi Rito aims to create lifelong connections by providing cultural experience and support to Māori rangatahi residing in the Counties Manukau rohe to reconnect them and their whānau to culture, iwi and hapū. Awhi Rito is a part of the Waypoint collaboration. This service supports pepe, tamariki and rangatahi aged between 0 - 17 years with high support/recovery needs who reside in the Counties Manukau catchment area and would benefit from support in the home and/or community. Awhi Rito aims to create lifelong connections by providing cultural experience and support to Māori rangatahi residing in the Counties Manukau rohe to reconnect them and their whānau to culture, iwi and hapū. Awhi Rito is a part of the Waypoint collaboration. 

This service supports pepe, tamariki and rangatahi aged between 0 - 17 years with high support/recovery needs who reside in the Counties Manukau catchment area and would benefit from support in the home and/or community.

Supports will include but are not limited to:

  • Whanaungatanga (Cultural Identity and Connection to Whānau, Hapu and Iwi)

Kia Ora Ake - Kura Based Service

A primary school-based service that aims to support tamariki and their whānau to navigate and overcome any social stresses the whānau may have that impact their schooling.
