Formerly know as Porirua Living Without Violence.

Living Violence Free works to enable all people in Aotearoa to live their life free from family violence: to ensure they are thriving, and their wellbeing is enhanced; and to actively engage and support change in the attitudes and behaviours of those who use violence.

Objectives:
  • To work to reduce Family Violence
  • To focus on increasing the safety of people who are impacted by violence, and reducing the possibility of further harm
  • To hold accountable the people who use violence

By providing:

  • Support services and Safety Programmes to all affected by family violence  
  • Behaviour Change educational programmes in order to break the cycle of violence by providing the tools for lifelong change.
  • Raising awareness of the impact of family violence.

Staff

Our programmes are provided by trained women and men with an extensive knowledge and understanding of family violence issues.

Abuse and violence support

We work to eliminate violence and to promote safety for women and children. Our tamariki/child programme of individual, sibling and group sessions for children aged 5-14 yrs is an empowering and educational programme to assist children work through the impacts of being a witness or survivor of domestic violence. Our Women's Safety Programme provides support, education and wellbeing which help women make wise choices and to increase the safety for themselves and their children. We provide a Behaviour Change Programme for men and women.

We provide Behaviour Change Programmes for men and women. Behaviour Change Programmes for women who are aware that the way they express their anger and use violence needs to change. Behaviour Change Programmes for men that provide them with a structural understanding of men's violence, identifying the range of unaccepted violent behaviours and teaching non-violent alternatives.
