Ngātahi
Ko wai tatou? Who are we?
Ngātahi, is a term used to describe the unity of people working towards a specific goal or the implementation of a task. For generations past and those to come, we Connect, Protect & Restore, with one common goal: to share mātauranga, to hold space for healing to happen and to assist in the transformation of people’s lives through Rongoā Māori.

Awhina Motutere - ACC Registered Rongoā Māori Practitioner
“My name is Awhina Motutere. My direct descent lines connect me to my tūpuna, whānau, moana and whenua. I am from everywhere and it has been so since I was born.”
In the western world, I am a Medical Herbalist and a Naturopath. In Te Ao Māori, I am a Rongoā practitioner and a Mirimiri / Romiromi practitioner.
My Koro introduced me to Te Ao Rongoā and my father gave me my love of the natural world. He taught me about the importance of connection to the world around me.
Rongoā is a way of life as it is the embodiment of all that is. It is not just about trees and plants, it is a journey to self. It is an ever evolving road with many bumps and collisions. It is a self reflective journey of personal transformation.
Without “labels,” I am simply a lover of Papatuanuku, Te Wao Nui a Tāne and my people.

Services Provided
ACC Rongoā Māori ACC recognise rongoā Māori as a kaupapa Māori service. It's culturally grounded care that weaves tikanga Māori, mātauranga Māori, te reo Māori, and te ao Māori through all aspects of the service. We respect that these aspects embrace ngā taonga tuku iho (intergenerational gifts and knowledge handed down from tupuna Māori). We see rongoā Māori in the wider context of traditional Māori healing methodologies. ACC don't consider healing techniques from non-Māori cultural traditions, such as reiki or hyperbaric oxygen treatment, part of rongoā Māori. Even if they're provided by rongoā Māori practitioners. What to expect from Ngātahi: Ngātahi offers Mirimiri / Romiromi within a safe space for both those new and those experienced with this type of work. Rongoā consultations are designed to empower your own wellness journey. The outcomes are your responsibility working together with Awhina, to reach your desired outcome. Initial consultations are essential for initiating your journey in utilising rongoā as a tool to aid your healing.
