Description

WellStop is a community-based organisation that aims to eliminate harmful sexual behaviour. Our ambition is of communities free from harmful sexual behaviour. We work proactively with partners in the community to achieve this ambition. 

WellStop operates in the lower half of the North Island of New Zealand.


Adult and Family Services

We provide assessment and a range of treatment services to adults who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour or who have thoughts of doing so.

We work with a range of people including those with learning/intellectual disability. We also provide support and education to families.

Region: Wellington, Porirua, Hutt Valley, Masterton, Manawatu, Whanganui, Levin, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki

How to Access:

We welcome queries from anyone who has concerns about their own harmful sexual behaviour  or about someone else's behaviour for example, a family member or friend

Referrals: Self-referral, Department of Corrections, Oranga Tamariki, Police, other professionals, or family. Click here to make a referral.

Charges:

WellStop has funding contracts with Department of Corrections, Ministry of Health, MSD.  Fee for service could be negotiated and funding options can discussed.


Youth Services

We provide assessment and a range of treatment services to young people who have engaged in  harmful sexual behaviour. 

This service supports young people  to change their behaviour so they are able to live a healthy life in the community. We work with the families of young people  to support this change.

Age: 13 - 17 years (male and female) and their families

How to Access:

Anyone can contact WellStop to discuss concerns or make referrals for young people.

Oranga Tamariki is usually involved in the management of young people referred for assessment and treatment of sexually harmful behaviour if the behaviour involves significant harm to others.  If Oranga Tamariki are not involved, we will discuss the various options with you.

Charges:

WellStop has funding contracts with Oranga Tamariki and other agencies for young people meeting certain criteria. All other referrals need to be funded, either by families or referring agencies.


Children's Services

We provide assessment and a range of treatment services to children who have harmful sexualised behaviours and their families.

This service aims to work closely with the child's family, building on strengths within the child and their family. Services include Child Therapy, Family Therapy and Child and Family Education.

Age: 5-12 years and their families

How to Access:

Anyone can contact WellStop to discuss concerns or make referrals for children.

Charges:

WellStop has funding contracts with Oranga Tamariki for children meeting certain criteria.  We can receive referrals from family, whānau and community.  All other referrals need to be funded, either by families or referring agencies.


Sexual Harm Crisis Support Services

Crisis support services are delivered in a community setting to people who have been affected by sexual harm.

Services are for children and adults, with capability to also support their families and whānau in the context of supporting the primary adult victim/survivor.

Charges:

No fees apply for Sexual Harm Crisis Support Services. WellStop has funding contracts with Ministry of Social Development.
