Arowhenua Whānau Services is a Māori Health Provider offering a Marae Based Health Clinic, Youth & Adult Mental Health Services and Tamariki Ora for the Aoraki rohe (South Canterbury Region)
We are privileged to be able to offer a free and confidential service supporting whānau who face challenges in relation to their mental and emotional wellbeing within the South Canterbury region. Māori being our target, but available to anyone regardless of ethnicity, gender and those over the age of 13 who present with a diagnosis of a mild to moderate mental health issue.

Staff
Our Mental Health support is provided by our Mental Health Team - Registered Nurses and MH Support Workers.
Our team of Registered Nurses provide a Nurse-led clinic daily in Temuka, a weekly clinic in Waimate and Timaru, a monthly clinic in Twizel. See website for details www.aws.health.nz
We provide a wide range of services, including immunisations, Covid vaccinations, sexual health, contraception, cervical screening, CVD risk assessment, blood tests and health checks.
Our Tamariki Ora Registered Nurses provide Well Child/Tamariki Ora services to Tamariki aged 6 weeks to 2-3 years old.

The role of the Mental Health Team is to provide community-based support and education in your home, in the community or at our service bases, whilst walking alongside those of you who have identified a need to utilize our service on your journey to wellbeing. This support is provided by our Mental Health Team. Referral Process
Arowhenua Whānau Services are privileged to be able to offer a free & confidential service supporting whānau who face challenges in relation to their mental & emotional wellbeing to persons within the South Canterbury region, regardless of ethnicity, or gender and those over the age of 13 who present with a diagnosis of mild to moderate mental health issue.
We accept self-referrals or referrals can be submitted with your approval by a whānau member, friend, GP or other community professional and we endeavour to respond within 7 days.
An initial Mental Health Assessment will be completed at the first session where needs will be identified, support clarified, and short- & long-term goals developed. Just go to the website aws.health.nz, click on referral, complete the form and send it to us. Or you can drop in and self refer. You will be seen by someone who can help you fill out a referral form.
We present all referral forms to our Mental Health Team and then make contact with the referrer or the person.
