Description

SILC is here to support you to live the life you choose – a valued life, a life full of opportunities, friendships, and experiences. A good life.

We work with you in partnership to facilitate independence, community belonging, and a sense of wellbeing, as well as creating opportunities to do the things you enjoy.

Personalised Support

  • SILC provides personalised supports developed in partnership with you to help you achieve some of your personal goals and support requirements.
  • Areas that we can support you with can range from just a few hours a week support in your home or in the community, to full-time residential support.
  • Support in the community could range from skills needed to live independently such as shopping, attending clubs and other social activities .
  • Your support can be tailored to assist you to live in your own home. This may include learning how to prepare meals, carry out household chores and looking after your health and wellbeing. SILC can assist you to take medication if required and support you to attend appointments with health professionals.
  • If you are interested in receiving support, the Ministry of Health can assist you by undertaking a Needs Assessment. This will help you identify a plan for the support you need.

Residential Support

  • Access to our Residential Services comes via a referral from Support Net who will carry out a Needs Assessment to determine the level of support you require.
  • Residential support means that a person with an intellectual or physical disability has access to support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • The person's choice of living arrangement is worked out with them and their family/whānau.
  • This may be living independently or with a group of friends in a flatting situation. What is important to us is that the person receiving the support feels safe, comfortable and at home.
  • We will spend time together getting to know each other and will create a personalised plan which identifies the support you need, your goals and aspirations, and plan of how we will work together to achieve this.
