Description

Beattie Home is a community-focused, not-for-profit, 36-bed residential care facility situated in the heart of the King Country in Ōtorohanga. In 2021, a purpose-built Dementia Care facility named Papakāinga Homestead, which connects to Beattie Home, was opened. Papakāinga Homestead offers 22 beds.

Beattie Home operates under the governance of the Beattie Community Trust (Inc) and is managed by Olive Utiera, a Registered Nurse.

Adjacent to Beattie Home is Beattie Village, a retirement village comprising 19 units. For enquiries about Beattie Village, please contact the Village Manager David Williams on 027 873 6668.

Beattie Home is conveniently located within walking or wheelchair distance to the lively township of Ōtorohanga, known as New Zealand's official Kiwiana Town.

Staff

At Beattie Home, we are proud to have a dedicated and compassionate team of approximately 70 staff members who work together to provide exceptional care for our residents.

Our leadership team is led by Olive Utiera, the General Manager, and is supported by a Clinical Nurse Leader, and 5 other Registered Nurses and one Enrolled Nurse. These professionals collaborate closely with our wonderful team of caregivers to ensure the highest level of care and support for both residents and their families.

In addition, our Diversional Therapist oversees a team of Activities Coordinators who provide engaging activities seven days a week to enrich the lives of our residents.

At Beattie Home, we are committed to creating a warm and nurturing environment where everyone feels valued and cared for.

We also support students from Otago University and Wintec to complete their practicals with us.

We provide a Meals-on-Wheels service for seniors living within a 4km radius of the Otorohanga Township. Meals are delivered Monday-Friday (no public holidays or weekends). Beattie Home is situated at 172 Maniapoto Street, Ōtorohanga.

The main entrance is identified with a sign in front of the building.

Access to the Wilshier Centre is also off the main street, just before the main entrance with available parking.

Papakāinga Homestead's physical address is 16 Orahiri Tce, Ōtorohanga - dedicated parking is available outside the building.

Public Transport

Beattie Home has 3 vehicles to assist residents, staff and volunteers with transport. A small car, a larger SUV and a mobility van with a certified hoist for wheelchair access, all owned by Beattie Community Trust Inc. (all purchased with funding over the years by our wonderful community.)

Beattie Home is a short walk, wheelchair or mobility scooter ride to the Ōtorohanga township.
