The Cottage is the former Ōpunake Maternity Hospital and in 1990 the local community set up a Charitable Trust and converted the facility into a Rest Home for the purposes of providing for the social welfare, care and comfort of the elderly and disabled.
Situated under the mountain (Maunga) and on the coastline (Tangaroa) beside the Ōpunake Lake, the Cottage provides a home for those who need assistance with day to day living in a warm and friendly, homely environment. We strive to make people feel they belong here and are happy to call us home.
We believe in people, not patients and each resident is special and valued and their individual needs and desired experience is different and their care will be unique. Our professional work will be led by the principles of kindness, empathy, dignity, integrity, respect and trust.
Levels of care include: Rest Home Care, Palliative Care, Day Care, Respite Care and Young Persons Disability Care.
