Master of Physiotherapy

Profile

Originally from Ireland, Emily initially qualified in 2018 from University College Dublin, with a BSc in Health and Performance Science. She then completed her Professional Masters in Physiotherapy (Prof MSc) graduating in 2020 with first class honours.

Already sure of her passion for neurorehabilitation, Emily has spent the last two and a half years working in the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dublin, Ireland’s only Tier 1 facility for neurorehab. During her time there, she worked in brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, respiratory care, exercise/sports and aquatic therapy. She loves to combine impairment-based rehab with functional training to keep sessions challenging and interesting.

Emily has also completed her Matwork Pilates training with APPI (Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institution) and has recently completed specialist training in Neuro Pilates to adapt the Pilates exercises for the neurological population. She regularly uses Pilates principles in her individual treatment sessions as well as running group classes.

Emily is an extremely passionate therapist and has gained a huge appreciation for the unique and inspirational environment that can be created during rehabilitation. She values a holistic approach to care and takes the time to build sincere relationships with each client.

Outside work, Emily enjoys practicing yoga, exploring New Zealand’s hiking trails, and is loving Auckland’s great coffee scene.
