Qualifications

BHSc (Physiotherapy)

Profile

BHSc (Physiotherapy) 2007, WHTA Introductory Women’s Health, POP/SUI, OAB, and Anorectal postgraduate training, GEMt practitioner in Trigger Point Dry Needling
Anna began her career in 2008 in New Zealand as a graduate driven directly towards her interest in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. She has since worked in NZ and Australia in private practice over a wide variety of clinical roles. She was sole physiotherapist as part of a multidisciplinary team for a busy medical center in the small mining town of Singleton NSW, part of a five physio team conducting both Physio and Clinical Pilates in Maroubra NSW, and then finally while in Newcastle Australia she opened her own Physio clinic and Clinical Pilates studio, which she independently ran and practiced in a team of 2-4 Physios and 2 Remedial Massage Therapists from 2012-2019. After the arrival of her 2 kids, she returned home to NZ in 2019 where she returned to working in clinic for a group of musculoskeletal physiotherapy practices on the North Shore of Auckland.

While in Australia she completed the majority of her Women’s and Pelvic Health training under a group called the Women’s Health Training Associates, directed by Tarryn Hallum. She also conducted her trigger point dry needling training while in Autralia with GEMt (Global Education of Manual Therapists).

As a musculoskeletal physiotherapist Anna utilises a very hands on approach, with the belief that if we can reduce symptoms, we can reintroduce better movement patterns and postures. For this she uses a lot of dry needling and massage, and then frequently turns to Pilates for rehabilitation and return to function and/or sport.

As a Women’s and Pelvic Health Physio, Anna relies on current and up to date evidence based practice to address concerns such as SUI (stress urinary incontinence), POP (pelvic organ prolapse) including pessary fitting for POP or continence, OAB (overactive bladder), anorectal dysfunction (constipation or fecal incontinence, and all things bowel/anal related), PFMT (pelvic floor muscle training), as well as the management of pre and post natal concerns such as PRPGP (pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain) and JOBst stocking fittings for varicosities, exercise in pregnancy, and post natal checks. Anna believes in the power of knowledge, and feels clients benefit best when they have a level of understanding around their presenting concern. She endeavors to further her training in pelvic pain disorders in June 2022 and attends “research update” courses in the field annually. Pelvic health is Anna’s area of passion, where she intends to continue to contribute to the field in the years to come.
