Description
Palliative care supports hospital patients and families and whānau who are experiencing a life limiting illness.
The service consists of a Palliative Care Consultant and Specialist Nurses. We work alongside the lead care team in the hospital and other members of the multidisciplinary team to support their plan of care.
We can offer support regarding:
- the management of symptoms to improve comfort
- emotional and psychosocial distress related to a life limiting illness
- planning return to the community. This can include working with the team to link people with community services including Arohanui Hospice in the MidCentral DHB region or their local hospice for people from other district health boards.
Staff
