Kawakawa Spā was founded by Justine Rangihaeata in 2015 and continues to offer Traditional Māori Healthcare solutions.

How do I access this service?

Referral

How To Request Our Services Through ACC:

To access this pathway, you will need to get a referral from your GP, Physiotherapist, Osteopath or Chiropractor, and if you are attending counselling sessions you can ask for our services to be added to your treatment plan.

To request our services, you can contact your case manager directly if you have one or call 0800 222 435 ext. 13 (sensitive claim) or 0800 222 435 ext. 12 (physical injury) to speak with someone.

You will need to provide our vendor number VBB856 and the service code MTH10

Another option (although slower) is, you can provide us with your Name, D.O.B, Claim Number, the injury related to your Claim, and we will request services on your behalf. ACC will then contact you to confirm you're wanting to go ahead with treatment once approved.

We do not have a surcharge for ACC funded sessions.
There is a cost for our Rongoa Māori products.

We are open every second Saturday, 9am - 3.15pm.
Please note our reception hours alter, Monday - Thursday, closing at 5pm.

ACC Rongoā Māori ACC recognise rongoā Māori as a kaupapa Māori service. It's culturally grounded care that weaves tikanga Māori, mātauranga Māori, te reo Māori, and te ao Māori through all aspects of the service. We respect that these aspects embrace ngā taonga tuku iho (intergenerational gifts and knowledge handed down from tupuna Māori). We see rongoā Māori in the wider context of traditional Māori healing methodologies. ACC don't consider healing techniques from non-Māori cultural traditions, such as reiki or hyperbaric oxygen treatment, part of rongoā Māori. Even if they're provided by rongoā Māori practitioners.
