Today

Description

Breast Cancer Foundation NZ has a vision of zero deaths from breast cancer. We’re working towards this by promoting breast awareness and early detection of breast cancer across Aotearoa, and breaking down barriers that stop people from getting mammograms.  We work with researchers  and clinical teams to improve breast cancer treatment and actively support patients recovering from treatment and those living with breast cancer.

Support for people with breast cancer

We understand the impact that breast cancer has on patients and their whānau and our specialist breast nurses are here to help.

  • Free 0800 nurse advice line

Whether you have breast cancer, are supporting someone with breast cancer, or want to know more about your breast health, our nurses are available to take your call.

  • Online mybc community

Our online breast cancer community connects you with others affected by breast cancer.

  • Free counselling

We fund counselling sessions close to home.

  • Rehab after surgery

To aid recovery after breast cancer surgery, we provide information about exercise and wellness and can help connect you to a specialised PINC physiotherapist when needed.

  •  Education and breast awareness

Survival rates are higher when breast cancer is found early, so educating New Zealanders on the importance of early detection is vital.  We provide community education:

  • Nurse Educator – workplace or community education.
  • Pink Caravan – travels around New Zealand to promote breast health and screening.
