Operator, Eleanor Burgess, has been hairdressing for over 40 years. Georgies was established in 1993 when a close friend of Eleanor's needed the reassurance of a quality wig after being diagnosed with cancer.

Georgies unique team of experienced hair stylists work in confidence and are happy to offer you private consultations in the salon, at your home or in the hospital.
*note only in-salon consultations are available with clip-ins.
Georgies consultants regularly travel to New Plymouth, Hawkes Bay and Greymouth.
Why use us?
No permanent damaging attachments are used - our products do not damage your hair and they are EASY to wear, look good and become an important fashion accessory.
Our products are customised to suit your individual requirements.
We offer a large supply of headwear that is made locally in New Zealand. Eleanor and our sewers hand pick the fabric and new options are available in both locations regularly. We can also offer custom-made headwear on request.

And we can apply for your subsidies / grants for you.
To qualify for a subsidy you must have a referral from either a doctor (GP) or health specialist.
We also work alongside the makeup co-ordinators, to provide expert wig and headwear advice in Look Good Feel Better classes in Palmerston North, Whanganui and Christchurch.

Staff
Eleanor Burgess is available to see throughout the year in both locations. With over 40 years in hairdressing and 29 years as owner/operator of Georgies in Palmerston North and Christchurch, she has a wealth of knowledge and has dealt with many types of hair loss and works with kind consideration to help with any questions or hair loss related needs. You can also find her in the Christchurch Look Good Feel Better classes in Christchurch.
Christchurch - Eleanor's daughter Charolette has been working in the Christchurch wig shop for a few years now and been around the business for the majority of her life. She has a real passion for helping people and her polite and positive manner make her a true asset. She is well versed in everything wigs and is very skilled in helping clients to find the options that suit them and their lifestyles the best.
Palmerston North - Lisa works on the shop/salon floor Monday to Friday and one Saturday a month.
In hairdressing for 9 years and 15 and counting years with Georgies Palmerston North, she came on board with Georgies when her own sister was undergoing cancer treatment, so has a very personal connection to her work. Well versed in colouring and cutting wigs and hair pieces, and helping clients pick the best option for themselves with kind and informed guidance. She is always happy to answer any questions you may have.
Beryl is working at Georgies on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and every second Saturday. She has been with Georgies a total of 11 years, and has been working as a hairdresser for 35+ years based mainly around the Manawatu. She enjoys helping clients feel like themselves, and takes her time to make sure you are comfortable.
Whanganui - Jill has worked for Georgies for 22 years, firstly in Palmerston North hairdressing and working with wigs/hairpieces; as a skilled sewer she also did a lot with wig/hairpiece alterations. She continues to use these exceptional skills in her new role working in Whanganui, making some of our beautiful headwear and providing private wig consultations in home or at the Cancer Society for the Whanganui area. She prides herself on providing you with a natural looking wig, and confidence in your choice.
Greymouth - Jenny came on board with Georgies in recent years after previously working at the West Coast Cancer Society in a managerial role. She has worked with people going through the journey of cancer for many years, and continues to be a supportive ear in her new role consulting with clients for Headwear and Wigs in Greymouth.
