Kenzie's Gift

Cancer Network Group Service

Today

Description

Kenzie’s Gift provides community-based early intervention and mental health support for young Kiwis and their immediate whānau living with serious illness, a diagnosis of cancer, or a bereavement within the family. This includes loss of an immediate whānau member due to suicide or accidental death.

Our programmes aim to reduce their distress, improve their quality of life and assist with the management of psychosocial issues arising from family life challenges such as grief, loss, and anger.

We provide opportunities for young Kiwis and their whānau to participate in one-to-one therapy sessions designed to alleviate the trauma associated with serious illness, a cancer diagnosis, or death of a sibling or parent / main caregiver.

Our mental health professionals are available in Auckland, Bay of Plenty,  Taranaki, Hawkes Bay, Waikato, Taupō, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill.

We also provide families across Aotearoa / New Zealand with Journey and Grief Kits, valuable resource packs full of helpful information, tips, and advice. These can be distributed to families nationwide. In addition, we have extensive downloadable resource guides on talking to young people about terminal illness and sudden death, including suicide.

Kenzie’s Gift also supports schools, providing downloadable Teacher's Kits that give teachers tools and information to support students navigating their grief journey.
