Description

Age Concern Wairarapa is a charity dedicated to people over 65, their friends, and whānau, promoting dignity, wellbeing, equity and respect and providing expert information and support services in response to older people's needs.

To ensure older people have the information they need to age well, are socially connected, and remain mobile and independent, we host social events and outings, provide volunteer visitors to isolated older folk, hold coffee morning educational seminars and run different exercise classes, aimed at falls prevention and balance, across the Wairarapa.  We also run Staying Safe driver refresher courses in partnership with Waka Kotahi.

We are the providers of the Elder Abuse Response Service, which is a confidential service whereby we support older people who may be experiencing elder abuse and educate the community about elder abuse.  Advocacy for our older folk to live fairly and equitably is also carried out.

Total Mobility assessment is also carried out by one of our team but accessed through Metlink.

If you, or anyone you know, needs our help please contact us.
