Description

Our mission:  Ensure every person living in Aotearoa New Zealand with diabetes or at risk of diabetes has equitable access to affordable, quality diabetes care and education.

Diabetes New Zealand aim to reduce the impact of type 1 diabetes and incidence of other types of diabetes in Aotearoa New Zealand.

We offer a Wellness Clinic, a Podiatry Clinic and a range of programmes covering awareness, prevention, early detection, education, support and advocacy.

Free and paid memberships available.

10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Mon – Fri 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Our normal opening hours are from 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday

Family / whānau support services provide support to improve the collective mental and/or physical wellbeing of the family / whānau.

Wellness / healthy lifestyle

Diabetes NZ hold a podiatry clinic. This is an affordable low cost service provided for people with diabetes and non-diabetics. Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling Diabetes NZ Otago on 03 474 0240 or email noeline@diabetes.org.nz Diabetes NZ Otago also run a free Wellness clinic attended by a long term conditions nurse from Wellsouth who is available for half hour appointments. During these times people can get their blood pressure checked, have their blood glucose tested and also discuss any concerns they may have with their diabetes or general wellbeing. Youth Camp

Diabetes NZ Otago hold two camps a year for Type 1 children and young adults. The summer camp is held in January over four days for children aged between 8-12 years. The winter ski/snowboarding camp is held in September over four days for young adults aged between 13-18 years. If you are interested in attending please contact Diabetes NZ Otago on 03 474 0240.
