Description
Green Prescription (GRx) is a nationwide programme that motivates sedentary adults (18 years and older) to become active. Patients that would benefit from an exercise programme are referred to us by the general practice team (doctor, practice nurse, health professionals), or by self-referral.
Green Prescription offers 3-4 months of support to assist with your motivation and provides all the information needed to lead an independently active lifestyle.

Criteria
- Aged ≥ 18 years
- Waitemata DHB Geographical boundaries: North Shore, Rodney, Hibiscus Coast and Waitakere
- Currently inactive (less than 2.5 hours per week)
- Have a stable medical/ mental health condition that could benefit from regular physical activity.
- Are at risk of developing a medical condition due to a sedentary lifestyle
- Ready to make changes to their lifestyle and consents to being referred

Services Provided
We provide support for people once they have finished rehabilitation programmes. This support includes goal setting for healthy eating and exercise programmes. We also provide low cost exercise classes in a range of public and council gyms. You can also have free face-to-face support consultations and educational workshops with a Nutritionist, to assist you to live a healthier lifestyle. We provide specialised exercise programmes and appropriate exercise programmes/classes in the community and retirement villages for older adults.
