We provide needs assessment and service coordination (NASC) for people with disabilities. We support Aucklanders below the age of 65 years who have physical, sensory, intellectual disabilities and autism. All our services are FREE.
Starting the journey to access disability support can feel like a big step, but you’re not alone. At Kaikaranga (previously Taikura Trust), we’re here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
We’ll take the time to understand how disability affects you and your family’s day-to-day life. We can help you access Disability Support Services (DSS) or find other help that fits your needs.
People who are eligible for a needs assessment will meet one of our team for a relaxed conversation where we learn about your life with disability. Together we’ll work out the best support options for you—it could come from DSS, a mix of services or from another agency better suited to help you.
We’ll help you understand the supports available through DSS. The support we provide is tailored to meet your primary disability-related needs and situation.
We use DSS guidelines to determine support levels.
Support may help with daily activities, such as showering or to help give whānau a break from caregiving duties.
To find out if you can get disability supports from Disability Support Services (DSS) - Ministry of Social Development, send us a referral via our website at www.kaikaranga.org.nz.
