Koiora is an inter-disciplinary health & wellbeing service in Rotorua.

Koiora provides a service that is hope-inspiring, strengths-driven, and encourages people to improve their health and lead fulfilling lives and contribute meaningfully to their communities and society more broadly.

We do this through a focus on:

  • Reducing health inequity through improving access
  • Integrating with other health services and agencies such as MSD and Dept of Corrections
  • Providing responsive care delivery
  • Supporting enrolment into General Practice

Koiora services are usually available for whānau for up to 3 months duration or less. This is dependent upon enrolment in local general practices.

Te Whare Tapa Wha is the preferred assessment framework to ensure that taha tinana, wairua, whānau and hinengaro (physical, spiritual, family and mental health) needs are addressed. 

Staff

Koiora service staff are: whānau centred, multidisciplinary, accessible and responsive. They provide a quality service and a culturally safe environment for you and your whānau.

How do I access this service?

Walk in

Self-referrals from patients are encouraged to support achievement of outcomes. Visit us at 1185 Tutanekai Street or call us on 0800 1 Koiora (0800 1 564 672).

Casual (not enrolled) patients

Koiora services are usually available for whānau for up to 3 months duration. During this time we will work with you to enrol in a local general practice.

Referral

General Practice is encouraged to refer any of their eligible enrolled patients who 

  • are not engaged or not attending appointments
  • have high complex chronic conditions and require multiple appointments
