Mirimiri is a traditional Māori healing practice designed to restore and rebalance the tinana. This practice involves applying targeted pressure to the body through various techniques to release tension, alleviate pain, and promote overall well-being. The healing process may include the use of hands, feet, elbows, and even body weight, along with tools such as kōhatu, to work on muscles, joints, and tissues. Mirimiri focuses on specific trigger points or pressure points on the body, similar to other massage techniques, but with a deep connection to Māori spirituality. The practice goes beyond physical healing by addressing the wairua, recognizing that true well-being involves balance not only of the body but also of the spirit.
