Description
Lake Taupō Hospice is a specialist palliative care service supporting the community in Taupō, Tūrangi and surrounding areas. Working closely with primary and secondary health services, we provide integrated care for people of all ages in their homes. Our clinical team is available 24/7, offering both daytime and after-hours support.
Our palliative care services are available for people of all ages with a progressive, life-limiting condition and aim to:
- Optimise an individual’s quality of life until death by addressing the person and whānau needs
- Support the individual’s whānau, family and other caregivers through the illness
- Provide clinical management and symptom control
The service aims to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs of people through specialist palliative care, symptom management, grief support and care planning.
Referrals can be made through the Lake Taupō Hospice website referral form, BPAC, or self/whānau referral.

Our Services: Our hospice community nurses are registered nurses. They visit patients and assess their needs on an on-going basis. This may include, liaison with other health professionals involved in the patient’s care organise and deliver Hospice equipment provide advice and support for the patient and caregivers work alongside the general practitioner in relieving symptoms arrange residential care admission for end of life or urgent respite care arrange personal care services if required.
