Description

Many physical symptoms can be the direct result of lingering trauma or stress, which is why Māori bodywork focuses on realigning energy and clearing blockages, as an effective stimulus to release emotional blockages and speed recovery.
The build-up of tension in the body is the result of an accumulation of the stress and trauma we experience throughout our lives. Left untreated, it can lead to pain, illness or dysfunction on a physical, emotional, mental or spiritual level. Mirimiri healing helps reverse these effects by clearing the energetic systems of the body, restoring balance physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Manawa Ora Mirimiri: Techniques used include applying pressure to the trigger points and pressure points, using tools such as kōhatu (stones), spine and joint alignment techniques and the use of hands, feet, elbows and bodyweight to work the muscles and tissue at a deeper level.

Services Provided

ACC Rongoā Māori

ACC Rongoā Māori ACC recognise rongoā Māori as a kaupapa Māori service. It's culturally grounded care that weaves tikanga Māori, mātauranga Māori, te reo Māori, and te ao Māori through all aspects of the service. We respect that these aspects embrace ngā taonga tuku iho (intergenerational gifts and knowledge handed down from tupuna Māori). We see rongoā Māori in the wider context of traditional Māori healing methodologies. At Manawa Ora we practice mirimiri and romiromi; traditional Māori bodywork and healing (not massage). We work comfortably through clothing, and we work as a team in an open space. We have both male and female practitioners and you will be assigned a practitioner on the day of your appointment. We will take the time to ensure you understand the tikanga of our whare before commencing your healing process. We treat both Māori and non-Māori, and we treat people with physical/mental injuries and sensitive claims.
