ACC Rongoā Māori

Māori rongoā is a traditional Māori health practice that encompasses a range of natural healing methods and therapies rooted in Māori culture and spirituality. It involves the use of: Physical Techniques: Mirimiri (traditional massage technique) to relieve muscle tension and improve circulation. Spiritual and mental health: Addressing mental and emotional wellbeing through karakia. Natural Resources: some examples kawakawa, mānuka, kumarahou, koromiko, kānuka for their healing properties. The Holistic Approach: Rongoā takes a holistic view of health, considering not just the physical body but also the mind, spirit, and the connection to the environment. This approach emphasizes the interrelationship between these elements and the importance of maintaining balance. The Cultural Significance: The practice of rongoā is deeply tied to Māori cultural beliefs and traditions. It reflects a worldview that sees health as a state of balance and interconnectedness, influenced by ancestral knowledge and practices. Rongoā is not just a set of treatments but a way of life that incorporates Māori values and understanding of health and well-being.
