Description

Te Ao Mārama Traditional Māori Bodywork services includes:

Romiromi / Mirimiri Bodywork:
Traditional bodywork practices to release stress, tension & trauma held deep within the body at a cellular level that has accumulated through life's experiences. The work is guided by what is needed for each person.

Mahi Raakau: Community based wānanga & private groups:
Is one of our self-help/healing practices of the Traditional Māori Healing Arts. Working the body with a Rākau (stick). The raakau is a tool to help people discover the places & parts of the body that are challenged. It will move the user to an awareness of oneself that may have been forgotten. Please follow facebook/instagram pages for more info.

All people are welcome who feel I may be a good fit for their needs.

In the early 60's my parents moved to Mt Maunganui to get married. I was born & raised here. As a teenager I lived on our whenua in Whakakī (Nth of Wairoa) where I connected with my Kuia, on a spiritual level, who was the healer there. However, work life soon took over.
After 21 years working on construction sites I decided to study at Toi Ohomai in 2006 to become a Personal Trainer. I worked there for 15 years. I bring these skills forward to assist people with rehabilitation.
In 2017, I finally acknowledged the consistent calls from my Kuia (Spiritually) to start learning Rongoā Māori. Firstly, with Jolie Davis & then connected with Atarangi Murupaenga.
Their guidance towards my growth & development within the traditional Māori healing teachings has been life changing on all levels of being. It has been fast, intense & challenging at times however, necessary. The learning is continuous & for life!
