Description

Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub in Caversham offers wraparound health and social service support for whānau in the Southern community by providing services from three organisations in one place:

  • Te Kāika
  • Health New Zealand |Te Whatu Ora
  • Ministry of Social Development (MSD).  

The fundamental philosophy of Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub is He Kororowai Manaaki, which means ‘cloak of care and support’.

Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub is a new location where we offer some of Health New Zealand’s outpatient services. It supports Health New Zealand's strategic goal to provide more care in community locations to provide care in community locations that may be more convenient and comfortable for some patients and whānau.


Initially, Health New Zealand Services that will be providing clinics from Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub are:

  • Endocrinology
  • Community Mental Health
  • Ophthalmology
  • Paediatrics
  • Rheumatology
  • Women’s Health

There are free car parks allocated for patients and their whānau visiting the Hub. This includes 4 mobility spaces and 3 drop-off and pick-up spaces.

How do I access this service?

Referral

The referral process remains the same for all patients referred to Health New Zealand Southern services. Your doctor can indicate in the referral letter that you would like to be seen at Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub if you prefer this.

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora – Southern services at Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub will be for outpatient services during office hours and by appointment only.

Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub is located on the corner of Ranfurly Street and Playfair Street, Caversham, Dunedin.

Public Transport

Bus 33 stops on Playfair Street at bus stop 2 and bus stop 17. There are also other bus stops (5/6) on South Road, a short walk from Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub.
 
 
South Dunedin Free Shuttle Bus 
Te Kāika provides a free shuttle service around the South Dunedin area to patients and whānau accessing services at the Hub.
 
The shuttle runs three times daily Monday to Friday departing the Hub at 8am, 12pm and 5pm. 
 
Passengers simply enter the shuttle at any of the specified stops and exit the shuttle at any of those stops. No need to book. No ID required. Seating will be first in first served.
 
Each route starts and finishes at the Hub and you will follow the same route.

Parking

There are free car parks allocated for patients and their whānau visiting the Hub. This includes 4 mobility spaces and 3 drop-off and pick-up spaces.
