Whaiora means ‘in pursuit of wellness’. Whaiora offers a wide range of health and social services to our Wairarapa community.

Our hauora (health and social) services support the wellness of Wairarapa whānau and include:

  • Tamariki Services
  • Whānau Services
  • Kaiarahi Services (navigation)

We also operate a Very Low Cost Access (VLCA) Medical Centre for Masterton Māori, Pacific peoples, and people who have found it hard to afford or access healthcare.

Well Child Tamariki Ora

Our Well Child Tamariki Ora Nurses work with whānau to help give tamariki the very best start in life. Our Well Child Tamariki Ora programme is a series of health assessments and support services for tamariki and their whānau from six weeks to three years.

Family Start

Our Family Start social service professionals work with whānau to help give tamariki the very best start in life. Family Start is an intensive home visiting programme, which offers support to whānau who are struggling with challenges that make it harder for them to care for their tamariki. We work with whānau from 12 weeks confirmed pregnancy up to three years of age (if required).

Service types: Family / whānau support, Pregnancy and parenting, Parenting education, Postnatal support, Whānau support, Young mums, Pregnancy, Parent wellbeing, Dads, Whānau Ora, Kaupapa Māori, Kaupapa Māori.

Our Family Start social service professionals work with whānau to help give tamariki the very best start in life.

Outreach Immunisations (B4 School Check and Childhood Immunisation)

Our Outreach Immunisation health professionals work with whānau to help give tamariki the very best start in life. Our trained nurses and health professions carry out B4 School Checks and Childhood Immunisations.

Service types: Immunisation, Childhood immunisation programme, Measles / Mumps / Rubella (MMR) vaccine, Meningococcal vaccine, Well Child Tamariki Ora.

Our Outreach Immunisation health professionals work with whānau to help give tamariki the very best start in life.

Our trained nurses and health professions carry out B4 School Checks and Childhood Immunisations.

Rangatahi Tū Rangatira (Rangatahi Physical Activity Programme)

Our Rangatahi Tū Rangatira – R2R promotes physical health and well-being, whanaungatanga whilst nurturing confidence and building self-esteem for our rangatahi. With a foundation in tikanga Māori, our primary goal is to uplift the health and well-being of our rangatahi within our rohe. We are committed to providing a supportive environment where rangatahi can thrive and flourish.

Service types: Kaupapa Māori, Wellness / healthy lifestyle, Exercise and activity, Youth mentoring / development.

Our Rangatahi Tū Rangatira – R2R promotes physical health and well-being, whanaungatanga whilst nurturing confidence and building self-esteem for our rangatahi.

With a foundation in tikanga Māori, our primary goal is to uplift the health and well-being of our rangatahi within our rohe. We are committed to providing a supportive environment where rangatahi can thrive and flourish.

Pae Ora - Healthy Futures

Our Pae Ora community health professionals work individuals and whānau to help improve their health and wellness Pae Ora means healthy futures. We are a community-based service aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of Māori clients and whānau. Whanaungatanga and knowledge of helpful organisations is one of our strengths.

Service types: Family / whānau support, Information & support, Kaupapa Māori, Service navigator, Wellness / healthy lifestyle, Exercise and activity, Healthy eating, Sleep Problems, Mindfulness and mental wellbeing, Smoking cessation (Stop smoking), Whānau Ora, Kaupapa Māori.

Our Pae Ora community health professionals work individuals and whānau to help improve their health and wellness

Pae Ora means healthy futures. We are a community-based service aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of Māori clients and whānau. Whanaungatanga and knowledge of helpful organisations is one of our strengths.

Wairarapa Stop Smoking Service

We offer smoking cessation services to anyone living in the Wairarapa. We Can Offer: Kanohi-ki-te-kanohi – face-to-face support from a qualified Stop Smoking Coach Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) in the form of patches, gum or lozenges Hapū Māmā – a programme for pregnant women, expectant fathers, and parents with tamariki up to one year of age.

Service types: Pregnancy and parenting, Pregnancy, Wellness / healthy lifestyle, Smoking cessation (Stop smoking).

We offer smoking cessation services to anyone living in the Wairarapa.

We Can Offer:

We support whānau to navigate appropriate health and social services so they can become more self-managing and achieve their goals and aspirations. Our navigators will: support individuals/whānau to plan, develop and achieve a set of goals and aspirations help individuals/whānau to overcome barriers that may impact on achieving their goals connect individuals/whānau with appropriate health organisations and/or social services

We support whānau to navigate appropriate health and social services so they can become more self-managing and achieve their goals and aspirations.

Our navigators will:

  • support individuals/whānau to plan, develop and achieve a set of goals and aspirations
  • help individuals/whānau to overcome barriers that may impact on achieving their goals
  • connect individuals/whānau with appropriate health organisations and/or social services
