Counselling
START provides recovery support, counselling and information in a safe space for people who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives. For those aged under 18 years there are some referral criteria. We help to address the psychological and emotional harm impacts on the victim/survivor. We offer information and support for the victim's family & whānau and the wider community regarding sexual violence. We also advocate on issues relevant to sexual violence to government and others in decision making roles.
We are an ACC Sensitive Claims provider and if people are eligible for this, all face-to-face counselling is free. Phone, online and face-to-face support consultations, including family & whānau support are also free. If ineligible for ACC counselling cover, contributions towards fees are negotiable.
