Description

We provide a range of services to support people affected by family and sexual violence.  This can include social work supports, counselling, Ministry of Justice approved programmes, parenting and child/youth supports.  

Sexual harm support:

  • Support services for anyone who has experienced sexual abuse, current or historic, including support through the medical examination process following sexual assault.
  • Counselling support for survivors of sexual abuse
  • Information and resources for family and friends.  

How to access: The quickest way to get a medical examination is to call 111 or your local Police and they will contact us to support you.

Family violence support:

This service caters to anyone affected by family violence including youth and children.  Services include:

  • Crisis Support 24/7

  • Support for mild to moderate mental health issues for children

Sexual harm victims/survivors - Do you need help and support?

CLFS provides a range of support services for anyone affected by sexual harm. We support those who are self referred, referred by Police and medical sexual assault specialists. Services provided include: Crisis telephone support for those impacted by sexual harm Mon-Fri 9am-5pm Telephone and face-to-face support for those impacted by current and/or historic sexual abuse/assault. Support through the medical examination process, Police statements and interviews, and court hearings/trials. Information and resources to clients, their friends and family. Referrals to ACC Sensitive Claims counsellors and other health professionals where appropriate, including in other regions/countries to ensure continuity of care if clients move out of our area. We can liaise with anyone the client wishes us to liaise with to assist their recovery, e.g., mental health services, WINZ, employers, family members, friends, Police and ACC.

Our social workers can provide comprehensive assessments to help identify strengths and develop achievable plans to improve your situation. We help families deal with family harm, sexual harm, mild/moderate mental health, parenting strategies, maternal mental health, home based support and behaviour problems with children. We aim to empower families to change and develop long term strategies.

Stopping violence services

Non Violence Programme: This programme is for people who have been directed by the court (as the respondent of a protection order), or by the Department of Corrections to complete a non-violence programme. The programme is designed to assist those who use to learn new skills and strategies for themselves which don’t include violence, and to understand the impact of their behaviour on their partner. The programme assists those who are committed and motivated to make some good and positive changes, to have healthier relationships.

Emergency Accommodation

Emergency accommodation can be provided in absolute emergencies for short periods of stay and is offered to those that are in immediate danger.
