Description
We provide family-centred services for family/whānau who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing family violence, as well as other family advocacy and support services.
Hinengakau Maatua Whāngai aims to maintain, strengthen and re-establish the spiritual, physical, and mental welbeing of the families, whānau, hapu and iwi.

Services Provided
Our Family-Centred Services (Direct Services) are intended to help families and whanau become safe places to be and to restore family and whānau safety and wellbeing/mauri ora where violence has occurred. From the family and whānau perspective, their safety, needs and aspirations are at the centre of the services provided. We also deliver a Family Violence Group Education Programme for Women who have experienced violence in their relationships, to assist them to understand the impact of violence on them, their tamariki/children, whānau and the community. We can assist you to gain personal insight to solve your problems and build on family/whanau relationships by providing Anger Management Education.

We provide Social Work support and Social Workers in Schools - a community social work service, delivered in the school setting. By intervening early, social workers are able to work with children, their families/whānau and schools, to help protect vulnerable children and develop plans to improve their safety, wellbeing and educational outcomes.
