Description
“Weaving our journey together”
So’o le fau i le fau (Join the hibiscus fibre, to hibiscus fibre)
Lalaga Pasifika was formed to provide support and advocacy for Pasifika families, and also to serve as a platform of engagement for internal and external agencies. We intend that services are responsive to the culture, needs, and aspirations of our community. We believe that Pasifika peoples will continue to make a positive contribution to Aotearoa, and in doing so will lift socio-economic aspirations for all.
Our vision is founded on the family unit and recognises that a stable and secure family home is the basic structure required to build a strong community. The pillars of this home are: education, health, financial independence, cultural identity, and faith.
We believe that Pasifika communities need a cross-sector support agency that weaves together these principles in a culturally responsive manner. “Lalaga” is a pan-pacific term that means “to weave,” hence the weaving together of these strands to form a strong and cohesive social fabric.
