Description
TCHT believe the wellbeing of individuals, families and our community is enhanced through the provision of quality, appropriate and affordable housing.
Our mission is to advocate, facilitate and provide housing and related services to individuals and whānau on low, fixed incomes and people with unmet housing need. We have a specialist focus on disability, mental health and older people, including providing accessible housing.
Our services include:
- Transitional Housing - working with people and whānau in urgent need of housing, providing a tailormade wraparound support programme. We aim to empower and connect people to community and services, enabling them to work towards achieving their goals, including sustainable housing, further education, and employment.
- Community Housing - providing affordable housing to those who qualify for Social Housing. TCHT owns and leases an extensive property portfolio throughout the Bay of Plenty.
- Friendly Landlord Programme - partnership between TCHT and the Bay of Plenty District Health Board (BOPDHB) supporting mental health service users. Individuals with mental health needs have a better chance of succeeding when supported in independent and sustainable accommodation.
- Bay of Plenty Healthy Homes Initiative - identifying eligible families and working with them to carry out a comprehensive housing assessment and complete an individualised action plan to create a warmer, drier, healthier home.
- Housing Facilitation Service - targeted toward people living with a disability or chronic health condition, who also have an unmet housing need. We work alongside clients to identify appropriate and sustainable housing options. We continue to work with the client as they transition into sustainable accommodation.
- Developing further housing solutions - Due to the chronic shortage of one and two bedroom homes in our region, TCHT continue to advocate for the development of further innovative housing solutions for our clients, We work with local council, health services, private developers, other housing providers and government to increase the supply available for our clients
