Description

Wellington City Mission is a charitable trust, helping those most in need in the Wellington region. 

The Wellington City Mission can support you in a number of ways, regardless of your circumstances.

We provide supported Transitional Housing, Rest Home and hospital-level residential care. We welcome you into our Community Lounge Tā te Manawa, where you can enjoy the company and community of others. We also provide food support through our Social Supermarket, budget advice and financial mentoring, and 1 to 1 support and advocacy.

We are open to anyone who needs assistance, regardless of their religious belief, age, ethnicity or social background. Together, we work to identify and address people’s underlying issues to create positive outcomes. You can email us at enquiries@wcm.org.nz or call us on 0800 245 0900.

Tā Te Manawa (Community Lounge)

Our Community Lounge is the heart of The Mission and fits the name Tā Te Manawa which translates to “where the heart breathes”. It is a place that provides food, creates connections and fosters community. At our Community Lounge you’ll find food, friendships and comfort, to help you feel nourished – physically, mentally and spiritually.

Accommodation and housing support

Making sure you are housed or supported into transitional, or permanent housing is one of our key priorities. We currently operate transitional housing at four sites. Our transitional housing not only provides you with shelter, our kaimahi (staff) will help you get back on your feet, and support you to achieving positive outcomes.

Advocacy

We know your rights and a big part of what we do is to advocate on peoples’ behalf. We have valuable connections with all the social service agencies and know how to navigate these to get the best outcomes for you. We walk alongside you on the journey so that you can get on top of things and not be weighed down by stress

Budgeting and help with debt

Financial Mentors: We offer budgeting, financial mentoring and Total Money Management so that you can overcome financial burdens and are empowered to make choices and changes that will help you live with more financial freedom.

One on One Support

1-1 Support: Everyone’s circumstances are unique. Our Community Services team start by listening carefully to your needs and what matters to you. While our services can provide you with the support you need, we can also advocate on your behalf to outside organisations and agencies if needed.
