Description

SVS works collaboratively with other providers in the family violence sector, to achieve the vision of ending Family Violence in Aotearoa New Zealand, so that all people are safe, well and thriving.

SVS provides psychoeducational non violence programmes to people who have used violence or abuse, teaching healthy coping strategies and tools to assist in developing respectful relationships, while still holding people accountable for their past behaviour.

Staff

Programmes are delivered by highly-qualified, professional clinicians, who are passionate about helping people develop healthy and respectful relationships.

Referral

We accept referrals both from individuals (self referrals) and agencies including: health professionals, schools, employers, the Ministry of Justice, Department of Corrections, Oranga Tamariki and tertiary institutions.

Referrals involve an initial assessment to decide on the most appropriate support options for each person.

Stopping Violence Service and Respectful Relationship

We provide both individual and group programmes of between 10 - 19 session in length depending on the risk level. SVS non-violence programme uses psychoeducation and cognitive behavioural therapy to help perpetrators understand the drivers of their behaviour, challenge harmful beliefs, and develop practical skills for safe, accountable, and non-violent relationships.
