Moana House is a warm, caring and supportive home, providing for the residential needs of older individuals. The quality of the environment and facilities as well as maintaining a warm and caring home is paramount for our organisation.
We believe our residents are individuals with their own inherent needs and value and have the right to a secure environment, privacy, being treated with respect, courtesy and dignity. Cultural and religious values are accommodated and are seen as a sharing experience.
We run an extensive inhouse activities programme and transport is provided for community activities and weekly outings.
We also support the local community through short term equipment loans, meals on wheels and day care services.
Services at Moana House:
A registered nurse and an experienced team of caring support staff are always on duty.
In addition to continuing care, primary care, PACC funding for convalescence and palliative care, is available.
General practitioners have access to admit primary care clients with acute clinical conditions that can be treated by their GP, for monitoring and care in Whangamatā, instead of having to travel to Thames or Hamilton.
Care Relief / Respite Care:
Some individuals in the community are allocated a number of days to give their caregiver a rest. One dedicated room is available on a booking basis.
Meals on wheels
These are prepared daily by our kitchen staff and delivered by volunteers.
This is organised according to individual needs and incorporated into the Moana House activity programme.
