Tiaki Ūkaipō Breastfeeding & Community Support: Our programme supports mothers with their breastfeeding. Mothers are given one on one support and advice from a lactation consultant or, if appropriate, a peer supporter. These are other mothers, trained to provide a listening ear and advice to ensure a positive outcome for mother and baby when breastfeeding is a challenge. Home visits and clinics are available.
Referrals
- Self
- Whānau/family
- Lead Maternity Carer (LMC), midwives, GPs, and all other referrers
Antenatal Classes: Our service offers a free childbirth education course, taught by a qualified childbirth educator. Mothers and whānau attending classes receive all the information they need to help them understand pregnancy, labour, birth and caring for pēpe/newborn baby. Classes are held at the Maru Wehi Haupra complex on Maratahu St. Please get in touch with us for more information.
