Getting a COVID-19 vaccine is an important step you can take to protect yourself, your kaumātua and whānau from the effects of the virus. For more information on the COVID-19 vaccines and eligibility visit Ministry of Health - COVID-19 vaccines

In the Western BOP – e-Referral can be used to provide notification of people who:

  • require vaccination at home (e.g. bedbound)
  • need vaccination in hospital due to previous anaphylaxis- please make your patient aware that there may be a wait of a few weeks for this clinic
  • require vaccination under sedation.

For those requiring travel assistance please provide your patient with the Health Shuttle details through St John. Please advise patients to ring after they have an appointment date for their vaccination as this service is busy, and can book out.

All Areas:

Please note: the home visiting service is very limited and only those who are incapable of leaving their residence should be considered for this.

Most people with neurodevelopmental disorders will be able to access vaccination through the usual channels, vaccination under sedation should be considered where this has not been possible or where previous experience has identified sedation as the only option for delivery of vaccines

The majority of routine vaccinations can now be administered before, after, or at the same time as your COVID-19 vaccinations. The exception to this is the Zostavax (shingles) vaccine where a 7-day gap before or after receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 is advised. If you have any questions, please discuss with your health provider.
