This is a drive-in/walk-in service. There is no charge and no need for an appointment.
Testing for Travel Swabs are completed by the Whanganui Accident and Medical Clinic as there is a cost involved with this.

8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The community-based assessment centre (CBAC) on the Whanganui hospital campus is open 8am to 3:00pm on Monday to Friday and 8am to 12pm Saturday and Sunday. This service is provided with a drive through tent or walk in.
You can find the CBAC by taking Entrance 1 into the hospital and turning right through the car parks. Follow the signage to the tent where you will be seen and assessed by the nurses.
For after hours service, call Whanganui Accident and Medical (WAM) on 06 3481300. They are located on the hospital grounds beside the Emergency Department and their hours are 8am to 9pm 7 days a week. Alternatively after these hours please present to the Emergency Department.
If you are visiting your general practice and it’s more convenient to be assessed there, this is also an option. Please make contact with them.
