Profile

Andrew Kerr trained in Cardiology in Dunedin and completed his Fellowship training in cardiac echocardiography in Boston at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.  

Since 2000, he has worked as a Cardiologist at Middlemore Hospital, serving as Clinical Head of Cardiology between 2001 and 2014.  Throughout his time at Middlemore, he has had an active research and teaching career. 

His research interests include cardiac imaging, cardiovascular epidemiology and risk assessment.   
He has worked with a VIEW team at the University of Auckland to help develop the PREDICT primary care CVD risk equations and teh secondary care ANZACS-QI equations.  He is currently chair of the Aotearoa NZ All Cardiology Services Quality Improvement (ANZACS-QI) Governance Group.
