Profile

Coming from a rural area in The Netherlands, I moved to Belgium to study medicine, and after that I graduated in tropical medicine. I then moved with my husband Joost to Mozambique, to teach medicine at the university.

We came to Alexandra in 2010 & started our own practice here in 2016. We love the open, relaxed friendly atmosphere here, and the mountains around us are wonderful.

General practice was a natural choice for me, as I enjoy the variety, long term contact with patients and the relationships that build up over time. I have a holistic approach to medicine, finding ‘the story behind the story’.

I am an Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor, which means that I have done further several courses through the Skin Cancer College Australasia, leading me to have advanced skills and knowledge in the diagnosis, treatment and management of skin cancer. Come to see me for your skin cancer check!

I also have additional experience in Women’s Health (including insertion of IUDs) and travel medicine.

Outside work I like spending my time in the great outdoors.
