Peter grew up in Auckland and trained at the Auckland University School of Medicine, qualifying in 1981. He worked in the hospitals in Auckland before moving to general practice and finishing his postgraduate training with gaining Fellowship with the RNZCGP in 1999. During his training years Peter always intended to become a GP and he is pleased to say that he immensely enjoys his work as a GP since starting in Mission Bay in 1984.
Peter is interested in all aspects of general practice and enjoys seeing people young and old. His special interests include men’s health, preventing cardiovascular disease, older people’s health and using computers to improve medical care.
When Peter isn’t working, he enoys surfing, snowboarding, cycling, gardening and music (especially live gigs!). He escapes regularly to his holiday bach on Great Barrier Island. He has 2 grown up sons, Richard (in Beijing) and John (in Honiara), a long-time partner Suzie, and 2 beautiful granddaughters, Georgia and Hazel.
