Dr Rebecca Shine completed her specialist colorectal training in Christchurch in 2020 after a year of sub-specialist training in Melbourne. She has spent the past four years as a full time public employed colorectal surgeon has recently joined Christchurch Colorectal. Her interests are minimally invasive colorectal surgery (benign and malignant), trans-anal procedures, proctology and inflammatory bowel disease.
She is deputy chair on the Colon and Rectal Section, a member of the Australia and New Zealand Training Board in Colon and Rectal Surgery, a member of the Surgical Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Committee and a Clinical Senior Lecturer, University of Otago and an educator and examiner for the Critical Care of Surgical Patients courses.
She has a kind and friendly personality and ensures she takes the time to connect with her patients. Outside of her professional life she enjoys trail-running, mountain biking, adventure racing and any ski sports.
