Profile

Tom is a gastroenterologist who is dedicated to providing high quality, evidence-based and patient-centered care. He works at The Rutherford Clinic, Hutt Hospital and the Malaghan Institute to Medical Research. He offers a friendly and thorough approach to the full range of gastroenterological and liver conditions.

Tom also leads a research programme at the Malaghan Institute to Medical Research focussed on improving gut health. Current research interests include the role of intestinal barrier dysfunction (leaky gut) in disease pathogenesis, dietary interventions to treat disease, Helicobacter pylori, and the use of hookworm therapy to treat disease.
