Profile

Born in Dannevirke in rural Tararua country I moved to the South Island for school and never left. I now consider myself a mainlander and have settled in sunny Tasman with my wife and children.

Prior to starting medicine I completed an honours degree in Molecular Biotechnology through Otago as well as a certificate in Outdoor Recreation through Tai Poutini Polytechnic on the West Coast.

I have been a doctor for over ten years, working in a number of hospitals in the South Island while completing my specialist training in Rural Hospital Medicine. I am currently splitting my time between a hospital job at Te Nikau in Greymouth and GP work at Greenwood. My interests in medicine include older person care, general internal medicine, cardiology, acute care and wilderness and remote medicine.
