Profile

Dr Phil White was born and educated in Edinburgh, Scotland, graduated from Bristol University in England in 1979, trained as a  GP in Newport, Wales and worked in General Practice near Bristol for 16 years before coming over to Dunedin with his family.  He undertook further training to become registered as a GP here, attaining Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners in 2003.

Dr White believes in a General Practice that provides the whole spectrum of primary care from cradle to grave, and the importance of good team work to support the patient on this journey. His special interests are the use of  information technology in General Practice and continuous quality improvement.

Phil has recently started working at Servants Health Centre, a free medical centre in Dunedin providing care for those who find accessing mainstream General Practice difficult. He has also become chair of Dunedin Urgent Doctors, the cooperative guild that provides after hours care to most of the population of  and visitors to Dunedin.
