Profile

Shafiq moved from Singapore to New Zealand 4 years ago. He gained his primary medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin and went on to Edinburgh to complete postgraduate studies in surgery.

Shafiq has worked in emergency medicine and as a registrar in cardiothoracic and general surgery in Malaysia, Singapore and Christchurch.

In addition to his specialist surgical skills, Shafiq has a special interest in general practice, paediatric and skin medicine.

Outside work, Shafiq enjoys playing badminton, basketball and plays the saxophone. Alongside that, he likes to develop his culinary skills.
