GP practice - enrolled patients only

This practice provides COVID-19 testing to enrolled patients. Please call the practice for more information.

Description

We are a family centred, non-corporate General Practice clinic offering a full range of GP services to you and your entire family, always aiming to provide quality healthcare for all patients with an emphasis on health education and preventative medicine.

Consultations are by appointment but we will take walk-ins whenever we can and urgent cases will always be squeezed into our roster if possible.

Our team includes our resident doctor, Dr Micheline Naidu, Dr Yuchen Zhang and Dr Simon Zhao, our lovely Jenny (our nurse), Mia (our Co-Practice Manager), Sia, Erin and Yan (our receptionists).

Staff

Dr Micheline Naidu was born and raised in west Auckland, and is of Tahitian, Cook Island, and NZ-European decent. Micheline completed her medical training at the University of Auckland in 2011.

She initially worked in the hospital environment before moving into General Practice in late 2014. Micheline is known for her caring and easy-to-talk to nature. She enjoys the diverse presentations in general practice, as well as getting to know families, and being able to explain things simply, so her patients better understand their condition and health needs.

Micheline is married to Vijay who is of Fijian-Indian descent, and together they have 2 children and a dog. Micheline enjoys spending time with her family, playing board games and watching movies. She sings in the worship team at her local church, and she has an interest in medical missions with the non-for-profit organisation Healthcare Christian Fellowship NZ which she currently chairs.

Dr Yuchen
Zhang was born in Tianjin, China, and has lived in Auckland since the age of five. He attended Auckland Grammar School, before completing his medical degree at the University of Auckland in 2017.

During his first three postgraduate years, he completed a range of attachments as a junior doctor across hospitals in the Auckland region. In 2020, Yuchen gained a Diploma in Paediatrics from the University of Auckland.

Yuchen commenced the General Practice training programme with RNZCGP in 2021. He takes a broad interest across many areas of medicine and enjoys the breadth of General Practice, as well as the opportunity to help and learn more about his patients over time. He is committed to lifelong learning and teaching, and values explaining things in a simple and easy to understand way, to enable his patients to better understand their health.

Yuchen is most fluent in English, and also speaks conversational Mandarin Chinese fluently.

Outside of medicine, Yuchen enjoys playing table tennis, chess, sightseeing and exploring our beautiful country.

Dr Simon Zhao was born in China and immigrated to New Zealand in 2004. He has been fortunate enough to have had a diverse range of experiences throughout his career, which have enabled him to grow both personally and professionally.

Simon spent over a decade working as a doctor in China. He then worked as a sales manager at AstraZeneca – one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Since moving to New Zealand, Simon has worked in a variety of healthcare roles. For 11 years, he worked at the Waitemata DHB as an Asian Mental Health Support Coordinator. He later worked as a doctor at Waikato Hospital. Now, as a general practitioner, he feels privileged to be able to provide ongoing care and support to his patients.

Simon enjoys swimming, hiking and exploring the unique and stunning landscapes of New Zealand.

The practice is supported by our lovely nurse Jenny Burnette, who is well known and respected in the West Auckland community. A veteran nurse with many years of clinical experience, she is great with children and vaccinations. She is also trained to do PAP smears and yearly immunisations for influenza. Her friendly smile and manner will warm your heart.
