GP practice - enrolled patients only
This practice provides COVID-19 testing to enrolled patients and Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei tribal members WHO HAVE COLD or FLU-like symptoms. Since the 18/8/21 Level 4 lockdown, the overwhelming demand for testing and treatment for our enrolled patients and our wider Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei whānau who are unwell with cold or flu-like symptoms, has limited our capacity to also deliver Covid testing for patients who are NOT sick that are requiring covid testing.
During the current Level 4 lockdown, Ōrākei Health is prioritising Covid testing and treatment for its enrolled patients and Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei tribal members that have cold or flu-like symptoms.
For all those living in and around the Central Eastern Bays (Orakei, Mission Bay, St Heliers, GI etc) who are not sick (with cold or flu-like symptoms) but are required to get a Covid test, you can attend the newly opened pop-up testing station located at the: AMI NETBALL COURTS in St. Johns.
Testing for Travel
With the current Level 4 lockdown situation (as of 18/8/21) we will still assist those leaving the country to do Covid travel swabs on our usual days of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Please note times and capacity of our Nurses to do travel covid swabs may vary depending on the current demand from our patients who are sick or have an acute health condition that are Nurses will need to attend to first.
Covid travel swabs will be delivered in the carpark behind our clinic by our Nurse who will be in full PPE gear. We kindly ask that you come in a vehicle so the Nurse can do the swab while you are in the car as an extra safety precaution against possible Covid-19 transmission. Please enquiry with Reception when you book your travel covid swab for the directions to the back carpark behind our clinic. We appreciate your patience and cooperation with our precautionary measures for our Nurses to continue delivering travel covid swabs.
At Ōrākei Health, Covid-19 testing for patients with cold or flu like symptoms and/or Covid-19 active case contact group and sub-group/s will always take priority over any travel Covid swab.
Travel Covid-19 tests are only available on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday usually between 11am - 12pm and 2pm - 3pm.
We do not offer Covid-19 testing on any NZ public holiday.
Travel Covid-19 test appointments are only offered IF there is capacity from our clinical team on the day you require.
The cost of a travel Covid swab is a flat rate cost of $188 no matter your patient registration status with our practice.
The cost of the travel Covid swab must be paid before the practice will administer the swab. Contact the practice on 09 578 0956 for payment options and bookings.
Important note about Travel Covid-19 test result documentation:
In most cases, the Covid-19 test result documentation we receive from Labtests, that we onsend to patients, is sufficient to satisfy the requirements from Auckland airport and most country destinations.
However, there are some country destinations who have strict or more specific requirements for travellers to supply at their destination, before the respective country will grant entry into their borders.
The responsibility of getting the exact Covid-19 test result documentation sits wholly with the patient/traveller. We are of course happy to assist, where capacity allows, to administer the swab (within scheduled times above) and onsend the generic test result documentation we receive from Labtests to the travelling patient.
Any further documentation requirements, outside of the generic test results we receive, will have to be sorted directly by the travelling patient and Labtests.
Patients can contact Labtests' Results Enquiries team on: 09 574 7398. For more Labtests contact details, visit their website here: https://www.labtests.co.nz/contact-us/
If you get really stuck, call the Practice and we of course will assist as best we can.
Special support from our Practice Managers around 'hard to access' test result documentation may be available for Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei tribal members and whānau Māori & Pasifika living in and around our community. Please call the Practice and we will do our best to assist.
