Description

The Doctors Hauraki is closing on 24 December 2021

For those who visit the Hauraki clinic frequently, rest assured your medical team, the same people you’ve known and dealt with for years, are transferring to Fred Thomas.  This means you can start booking appointments to see them there. Dr Oliver is excited to be working as part of the team-based care at The Doctors Fred Thomas and looks forward to seeing you for consults in this new location.

Why is The Doctors Hauraki closing?
The safety of our patients is our priority, although originally a purpose-built medical centre the current building has outgrown it’s use. It’s no longer up to the safety standards we need to provide you the best care.
This building has a lot of limitations including a lack of parking and accessibility issues for our patients requiring mobility access.
For clinicians to provide great care for their patients they need the support of colleagues, we have worked with the team at The Doctors Hauraki and decided they would receive greater support as part of a bigger team in one location.

Great facilities at The Doctors Fred Thomas
You will find it’s a much better experience visiting The Doctors Fred Thomas – there is more parking, and proper disabled and mobility access. The consult rooms are much better equipped to provide additional services because Fred Thomas is a modern purpose-built medical facility.

With a bigger team, we can offer appointments with doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants and many visiting specialists. All the services you receive at Hauraki Corner are available at Fred Thomas and more. It’s a convenient, one-stop-shop with a pharmacy, radiology and Habit Physio all on one site.

If you haven’t been to Fred Thomas before, we look forward to showing you around when you have an appointment or when the alert levels allow. There is a lot to see, and the team look forward to welcoming you.

Enrolment
The two practices have always worked closely together. Because Hauraki is a satellite clinic, it means you’re already enrolled at The Doctors Fred Thomas, we have your comprehensive medical history accessible to the team, so there is nothing for you to do.

We understand these changes may be concerning for some people, and we encourage you to talk with us. We’re here to help.

We look forward to seeing you at The Doctors Fred Thomas clinic.

Covid 19: we want to help our patients get well and protect our staff and community.

If you have cold or flu like symptoms including fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat or difficulty breathing, please let our staff know.

There is also a dedicated Healthline number for Covid-19 enquiries – 0800 358 5453.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

YOUR SAFETY

The safety and well-being of our patients and staff is a priority for us, and so patients visiting for COVID-19 swabbing are directed to a different parking area, away from the main entrance.  Swabs are carried out in your car where possible, and if an assessment is required, this is done in an isolation room.

This means that if you need to visit the clinic for another reason, for example your flu vaccine, you will not be exposed to any areas where COVID-19 swabbing is taking place.

Testing is a vital part of stopping the spread of COVID-19, and we are happy to be helping with this part of the response plan.

Keep safe, stay well
