Getting a COVID-19 vaccine is an important step you can take to protect yourself, your kaumātua and whānau from the effects of the virus. For more information on the COVID-19 vaccines and eligibility visit Ministry of Health - COVID-19 vaccines

The majority of routine vaccinations can now be administered before, after, or at the same time as your COVID-19 vaccinations. Description

Whangaparaoa Medical Centre was opened by Dr Don Dalzel in 1976 at Whangaparaoa Town Centre. The practice was taken over by Dr Grant Spence and Dr Wendy Marshall in 1987.

On 7th December 2000 the new era for the practice was started by Dr Cecil Antony. After a 3 month closure of the practice, the population was only 700 patients. The practice expanded within the current premises and at the time of moving to the new practice across the road, it was a busy one-GP practice.

On 17th December 2007 the practice moved to the new premises – 16 Wade River Road. Dr Aideen Hawkins started as a permanent locum at the end of 2007 to service the needs of women.

The practice provides complete health services for the family. We continue to provide free services for under 13 year olds. We also provide specialised procedures such as minor surgery funded by WDHB, IUD insertion, cryotherapy and family counselling.

The practice is still taking new patients and is part of the Rural General Practice Placement for Auckland University and a teaching practice for future General Practitioners.
